Forms recognized differently - driving me crazy
I know that this HAS to be somewhere, but so far I haven't been able to find much (except that maybe the form is changing slightly - which I do not think is happening).... I have wasted WAY too much time trying to figure this out - it should be a no-brainer...
Anyway, I am testing a VB app (vb6 I believe - NOT .NET) and using QTP 9.0.
One time when I record, the form is frmInitSplash and the next time it is frmInitSplash_2, so none of the objects are found because the vbpath of the object is wrong...
I know that I found one other thread that mentioned this, but the answer suggested that something had changed on the form (like a date, for example). Well, I don't have anything like that on this form, and the only properties I am looking at are vbname: frmInitSplash, regexpwndclass: ThunderRT6FormDC and native class: ThunderRT6FormDC.
If anyone could point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful.
Re: Forms recognized differently - driving me crazy
I just found this on the mercury support site (it deals with webpages, not vb forms, but hopefully there is some similiarity)...
QuickTest Professional 8.0 and above
To have QuickTest Professional see your webpages as one instance all the time:
1. Go to Tools -> Options.
2. Select the Web tab.
3. Click <Page/Frame Options>.
4. For the "Create a new Page test object" section, select the Differnt URLs or a change in data transfer radio button and set or clear the options as specified below:
Set these options:
Ignore non user-input data - Get
Ignore non user-input data - Post
Ignore user-input data - Get
Ignore user-input data - Post
Clear this option:
Use additional information of Page/Frame
5. Repeat step 4 for the "Create a new Frame test object" section.
6. Click <OK> to close the dialogs.
After making the above changes, you will need to recreate the script with a new Object Repository.
For more information on these settings, refer to the QuickTest Professional User's Guide (on the Index tab, enter "Page and Frame Options").
If QuickTest Professional continues to add the same window to the Object Repository multiple times, check the properties that are used to identify the window. If one of the properties changes dynamically, you may want to configure QuickTest Professional to use different properties or attributes when identifying the window or object.
