    Link parameterization

    Hi,

    Can any help me how i can parameterize the click on link?

    When I recoreded the script it is for 1 of user having some type of loan type which i click to go to next page.
    I want to parameterize that "link click" so that for any loan type it click go to next page.

    This is my intial recorded statement.
    'Browser("National Student Loans").Page("National Student Loans_4").Link("Canada Student Loan").Click

    here is what i change in coding to run my test for other click

    LoanType=datatable("Action_Button",dtglobalsheet)
    Browser("National Student Loans").Page("National Student Loans_4").Link(LoanType).Click

    It is giving me following error-
    The "Canada-Ontario Interated" Link object was not found in the Object Repository.
    Check the Object Repository to confirm that the object exists or to find the correct name for the object.
    Line (22): "Browser("National Student Loans").Page("National Student Loans_4").Link(LoanType).Click".
    What is the solution of my problem.

    Re: Link parameterization

    Hi,

    Try
    Browser("National Student Loans").Page("National Student Loans_4").Link("Source_index:=x").Click

    in the above statement replace x with the source_index of that link..

    for getting source_index spy that link n get form runtime object properties.

    Thanks

    Re: Link parameterization

    Read help on using shared OR in your tests. You are passing the loan type from data table - but have you added the objects in OR ?

    Option1: Add all objects to OR and then use them by passing from data table
    Option2: Use descriptive programming

    Re: Link parameterization

    Pass the link name dynamically from the data table.
    store it in a variable. i.e.
    sLink = datatable("link",dtLocalSheet)
    or store link type in a variable i.e.
    sLink = "Student Loan"
    Use the code
    Browser("National Student Loans").Page("National Student Loans_4").Link("innertext:="&sLink).Click
