Hey folks; I've searched the docs but can't find the answer to this; hopefully it's not in a FAQ somewhere that I missed.
We currently use 8.2 with a concurrent license. The license server is running on a dedicated system. I've downloaded 9.1 (through our support agreement); both the license server and the client.
My question: I want to test 9.1 a bit before putting it into production, but I also don't want to block anybody else's use of 8.2. From what I read on support.mercury.com, I *think* I can install the 9.1 license server on our dedicated system, and the 8.2 systems will continue to work while I also test the 9.1 system. Does anybody know if this is true? (I put in a service request, but haven't heard from Mercury in about 20 hours)
Thanks for any info, and hopefully I'll be able to return the favor.
We are using our QTP 8.2 concurrent licenses with the 9.0 license server and have had no problems. I don't imagine that there would be any major differences between 9.0 and 9.1 of the license server that would prevent the older 8.2 licenses from continuing to function. The 9.0 license server manual does state that the older 8.2 licenses will continue to work.
Like you, we were cautious and wanted to test QTP 9.0 prior to upgrading all of our test PCs. Good thing too, as we have found several issues in QTP 9.0 that cause our existing framework to no longer function as it has with QTP 8.x.
