    Active X add-ins problem

    Hi All,

I am using QTP 8.2.In QTP 8.2, three add-ins come with the product: Active X,Web and Visual Basic. But I am encountering problem while loading Active X add-ins and it shows memory realted error message and the QTP application closes down. But while loading the other two add-ins (i.e web and visual basic), QTP works fine.

But I need Active X add-ins to be loaded. Can anyone please help me how can I load the Active X add-ins successfully?

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Active X add-ins problem

    Hi Tarun,

I tried your suggestion. But still its showing error and my explorer is getting terminated because of the QTP 8.2 Active X addin problem. The detailed error is:

Application popup: explorer.exe - Application Error : The instruction at "0x00035b48" referenced memory at "0x00035b48". The memory could not be "written".

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program

Can you please let me know how can i fix this ?

    Thanks.

Are you trying to manipulate any ActiveX controls in your application, if not don't select the ActiveX addin.

    Re: Active X add-ins problem

    Hi Mark,

Yeah, there are quite a few numbers of Active X controls in my application under test. To automate those, I need to use Active X add-ins.

Can anyone please help to fix this error.

    Thanks.

    Re: Active X add-ins problem

I've seen this kind of post and the support solution seems to be to modify some settings in the mic.ini file and restart QTP.

Can't rember exactly which setting but I'm sute they were under the BBT, Acx_Hook & ie_hook.

Do a search on the forum for mic.ini and look for these settings

    Re: Active X add-ins problem

Some time ago I had a similar problem and I found that the problem was related to QTP incompatibility with a service that was running on the computer, in this case, it happen to be a power management service (running on a laptop) in a french OS.

I am not sure this might be the same issue, but you might want to check the services you have running and terminate the ones that you do not need.

    I hope this helps

    Regards,
    Clemens
