Can some one help me in understanding how an un expected error can be handled in QTP.
I have recorded one script and sheduled it to run . While running one pop up comes which needs to be clicked in order to move forward.Hence the script is not movng. It requires a manual intervention which I do not want. I checked the scenario handling also but I fail understand that if I am triggering scenarios .this is nothing but a recorded event. So it should not be trested as unexpected error.
Firstly, i would advise you to go through the User Guide relating to Recovery Scenario Manager.
Secondly, using Recovery Scenario, you have an option to handle unexpected error(popup windows. which also provides you a wizard to make things easier. Or probably in the script write a program to click on the necessary button to get rid of the popup and resume script execution.
Assuming the pop up is predictable (occurs in the same place, but perhaps not every time or only under certain conditions) try testing for the pop up and if it occurs, optionally execute the code needed to dismiss it and continue.
Recovery manager is the best thing to handle unexpected error conditions. Its very simple to build a recovery scenarion. Have the pop up on the screen and initiate the recovery manager (Tools---?Recovery...). The manager will take you through all the required steps.
