    QTP and Flash

    I know that QTP9.0 doesn't support Flash
I have a flash page with images and I'd like to do a bitmap check on those images , however it is impossible with QTP.
is there any 3rd party , plugin , addin , or free testing tool to check images on a flash page?
any idea on how to automate this ?
    Thank you,
This is the page I am trying to test

    Re: QTP and Flash

You are right, QTP will not intelligently interact with, or validate Flash content. The only commercially available functional testing tool that I am aware of that supports Flash is TestComplete.

Bitmap checks are inherently prone to errors and require significant maintenance. Some things just need to be tested manually. For instance, an automated bitmap check isn't going to tell you that some of the images on the linked test site are too small and lack sufficient detail, or that the colors are a bit muddy.

    Re: QTP and Flash

I understand that somthing need to be tested manually , but when this thing needs to be repeated over and over and is time consuming it's better to automate.
I have hundreds of images which could be tested through the image bitmap checkpoints with no more than 3-5 lines of code.
however because of QTP limitation <no support for flash> I am unable to do this and I am looking for alternatives and workarounds.
hope any one got a brilliant idea.

though thanks for your post Tony

    Re: QTP and Flash

It appears the page you referred to has a box with images and a scrolling mechanism to select pictures. Is this the Flash part? Eggplant is a 3rd party tool that can control and validate that page, as well as other Flash implementations.

These were major issues up until about 2002. However, most of the modern pixel-level capable tools have shed these long-standing problems. In fact, the new crop of GUI testing tools are used by software companies that create paint and image editing programs to ensure colors, size, and details are accurate within certain tolerance levels.

could Eggplant be integrated with QTP9.0?
do you have any idea about the cost of Eggplant?

I don't know why it could not integrate with QTP9.0, although I don't have personal experience doing so. One client integrated Silk with Eggplant so that Silk would get as far as it could go, hand off the rest of the testing to Eggplant, and Eggplant would finish and report the results to Silk. I suppose the same could be done with most any other tool.

    Re: QTP and Flash

    Jay thanks again
I guess I will try the Eggplant Green and if it works fine with testing my Flash site then I will convence my company to buy it.$450 is reasonable price.
    Thank you
