One of the last WinRunner-only holdouts has finally had to give in and purchase QTP, and thus the tribulations begin....
I have searched and haven't located any reference to anything like this in the forum, and I have logged a call with Mercury but thought I'd see if anyone has any thoughts on it....
Right now, I have one system that is a desktop P4 3Ghz, 1G Ram, 160HDD, WinXPSP2 which I have installed QTP 9.0, and I am unable to prevent QTP from rebooting the client system on launch/Run. It is a base install with the .NET addin. All updates available have been downloaded and installed according to the application when it checks. DEP has been turned off through the boot.ini settings.
50%ish of the time as soon as I launch QTP the system will immediately reboot, the other 50%ish of the time it will reboot as soon as I start the script.
The first command is a sysutil.run command to launch the .NET C/S app to start the test, but it doesn't launch, it just dumps to reboot.
I have made sure it isn't the application I am trying to launch causing the issue as it is able to be launched and tested manually without any issue of use or client system failure. As soon as I seem to *think* QTP it wants to reboot.
Any thoughts would be appreciated as I plan to have a difficult time with Mercury as we recently upgrade from WinRunner exclusive licenses to the Function Testing license scheme and I know they aren't gong to recognize that without a fight .

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results
The same thing is happening to me, QTP 9.0, 50% of the time as soon as I lunch it reboots the PC, and the other 50% of the times if I try to record & play a test it will reboot as soon as I click stop recording, and some of the times it just reboots when I try to open a test...the thing is is not every single time so thats confusing to me. I have no Add-In or anything like that...I try to disable the antivirus software but as a polici of the company it has to be up all time...i don't now what else to try...any ideas?
