My department supports QuickTest, WinRunner, and LoadRunner. When troubleshooting installations, it's sometimes necessary to verify the versions of various dll's that Mercury uses. I wrote a VB 6.0 app that verifies the mod date and version of all of these files, and those of the executibles. The last item concerns verifying the service pack level, as well as other patches programatically. For example, I'm on version 184.108.40.206 of QuickTest, but the exe version is
showing 8.0.3428.2. Is that equivalent, after some translation? I couldn't find information regarding this in the knowledge base or on
the forums. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!
p.s. I already searched google and this forum, but unfortunately didn't find anything, mainly because half of the possible search terms turns up a lot of stuff not related to what I'm looking for.
The registry will be the best bet most likely. I already considered and dismissed the .html, because if we're trying to verify version info due to a installation not launching, and they never hit help/about themselves...it's likely to be useless.
