Oracle Forms are an odd animal, sometimes objects are not what they appear to be. In some instances you may have an 'embedded' object within another one.
This is typical of objects within a grid (dropdown combobox in a grid field). I dealt with this on WinRunner a couple of years ago, and it wouldn't surprise me if the same thing is going on with QTP. Also, it may be that it is a runtime defined field and the original object name doesn't sync. up in QTP. You may have to get its runtime attributes (GetROProperty) to figure out what it is you're dealing with.
