I am attempting to automate a test for a Windows application where I change preference data. When I donít have QTP in memory, I donít have a problem making those changes. After loading QTP and repeating the exact same steps, I get an error message when I attempt to apply the changes (The changes are not saved BTW).
The system is running Windows XP with Service Pack 2 and I have disabled the DEP. The version of QTP is up to date at version 220.127.116.11 Build 1852 and I have the .NET and Infragistics Test-advantage 2005 Volume 3 CLR 1.0 add-ins. The application I am testing against uses several languages (.NET, VB6, Visual Studios C++) and for the most part, the application is a black box.
Are there any suggestions on QTP/System configuration changes that I should try to resolve this.
have you installed every single XP update that you can from MS. I had a web related problem where the app didnt function when qtp was open. I eventually downloaded all critical updates and it loaded. I knoe this is not the same, its just an idea
The computer I am working with should be up to date as of January this year, so I dont think it would be something to do with the OS. Was there a specific package that you installed to resolve your problem?
Ok.. sorry I didn't get back to this right off.. I updated everything (manditory and optional) for windows and still recieve the same error. I also made sure to apply any patches to QTP 8.2 to ensure there were no problems there. Any other ideas ?
P.S. Funny thing "QTP" comes up spelled wrong
