Can script continue if locked PC is locked ?
I want to run batch of scripts which takes around 2-3 hours to complete. My pc get locked autoatically after 20 idle minutes as securiy policy(similar to Alt+Ctr+Del and lock). Does script exection will continue or it will hault ? If haults, is there any way to avoid that ?
Re: Can script continue if locked PC is locked ?
It depends... WEB application will continue. WinApp - not. Definitely - screenShots will not be taken (on Bitmap checkpoint or object.CaptureBitmap - you'll get black images).
QTP needs active screen in most cases.
To avoid this problem, I've disabled screen saver on machines, that run scripts overnight. It was not easy, because of company security policy. This procedure was not allowed on personal PC. (But, anyway, I don't use my PC for running - only for scripting and debugging :-}).
Technically: dedicated machine has to be out of company Network (but connected); you logon to this machine locally (not as NetWork\company member); you can map NetDrive, if you need that.
Our IT guys have figured out how to accomplish that without interfering with security policy.
From me: there was some tricks to configure QTP and scripts for that.
Of course, the office has to be locked if machines left without supervision and you will be responsible for additional security precautions.
Prashant, if you do those first general steps - I will help you further more with the next ones.
My Saturday funny advise:
You can construct some devise to force real mouse movement to prevent screenSaver activation :-}
Before we've found solution, I did it from children toy... . VERY high tech... :-}
