I am trying to identify the link by its unique propereties like (index,location)
but I couldn't see these properties using the object spy !
Set linkName = Browser("micClass:=Browser").Page("micClass:=Page" ).Link("micclass:=Link","location:=35").GetROPrope rty("innerText")
this works fine but I couldn't find the "location" properties under ROProperty or TOProperty ?
also I'd like to get certain part of the innerText saved in the linkName not the whole innerText.
any way to do so?
Thanx in advance.
First of all ordinal identifiers are TO properties not RO. QTP object spy does not show the index property becuase i believe its dependent on the page and QTP object spies the single object to give you the object details and not the whole page to get the ordinal identifiers. I believe Ordinal identfier are mainly added during recording when QTP have more object matching the description that it was recording
If the page does not change at all then its constant. But suppose earlier there were 2 textboxes and now the code is changed to have 3 textboxes then the index would be affected if the 3rd textboxes is added before 1st or 2nd. But if its added at the end then it would not have much affect.
