how can 2 people use Shared object repository in an effective manner as qtp allows only one person to update the object repository at a time. Is there any way it can be used by 2 people. how is the complexity of maintaining the repository by 2 people. Which object repository (shared /per action) is better if more than one person is working on the application?Any sort of help is appreciated.
What we do is keep the Master/Live Scripts and the shared Repositories in VSS. Each member of our team has a writable local copy of each. If a change is needed then it will be made to the local version of the scripts then there will be code review on the changes from a peer and acceptance testing before these cahnges are then migrated into the Master scripts. The same principal applies with the OR, each person has their own local OR, and if they need New items added to the MAster OR they will ask our Repository manager. After they have been given the all clear, the RM will merge the Master Repository and the changed one together.
All team members are then required to "get latest version" after any of the above happens. I'm sure there are other methods of repository managing that others here will be able to suggest.
