    Problems with QTP

    Hi QTP Wizards,
I guess QTP has some memory allocation problem.

We have developed scripts & reusable actions with a disk space of about 96 MB. Moreover
Datatable loaded from Excel sheet is of size 2 MB.

Opening the script through QTP, the script fails to load and QTP crashes.

The scripts & reusable actions are loaded sometimes when excel datatable file is not mapped or when few reusable scripts are removed.

Sometimes the scripts get loaded on certain systems.

It seems to be a memory allocation problem of QTP.

Have you guys faced the same?

    Re: Problems with QTP

Yes I have faced the same when using large QTP 6.5 scripts & OR's on a machine with 256MB. Upgraded to 512MB (and eventually 1GB) and seemed to solve the issues.

Does Mercury know about this problem.we use 512 mb ram only. hope we have to upgrade it.

we find that a lot of memory is still free , even then QTP crashes.Hope some problem with QTP internal memory allocation

Can any one let me know the alternative solution.

I am not sure but you can try increasing the virtual memory also.

    Re: Problems with QTP

QTP is a bit strange when it comes to memory, try this and you will see what I mean:

Launch the Task Manager (Start > Run taskmgr) and go to processes tab.
Launch QTP and note the QTPro.exe memory. allocation.
    Mimimize & maximize QTP.
Again look at the memory allocation of QTPro.exe.

Bit of a difference in usage?

    Mark Smith.
