I have a data entry page wherein I need to fill in all details .After filling the form , I click 'Preview' button and a letter gets generated.
This needs to be done for 32 states .
The foll is the scenario :
While entering data in the form , there is a combo box among many other text boxes.
The letter has to be tested using each option from the combo box while rest of the test remains same.So if there are 10 options in the combo box,10 letters should be generated .
I could solve this by parameterizing the combo box field.
This is for 1 state.
My qstn is how do I do it for all 32 states in 1 script. It is like a data table inside a data table.
Is it something got to do with 'Global','Action' data sheets ?
Has anybody done like this before .Please let me know.Thanks.
I think if you have all your states in the global sheet and the contents of the combo box in the local sheet you can accomplish what you want to do. Mark the test to on all iterations and also mark the Action to run on all iterations.
I'm not a complete idiot - some parts are missing.
By the way,I found that by selecting 'Run on all rows' in both Test -> Settings [Run Tab] & Step -> Action Call Properties [Run Tab] was giving errors. After it tested say 5 options in local sheet, it was looking for 6th option even though 6th row onwards is empty.
So, I selected "Run from 1 to 5 row " and it worked fine. Same for Global sheet .
I have a question abt the 'Run' settings for Global & Action data sheets. Are these settings specific to tests ? If I make changes to the setting for 1 test, will they affect others ?
The purpose for this is when I select 'Run on all rows' it does not stop after all the parameters are done.It proceeds to the next iteration and then gives error when no data is found .Hence, I want to specify "from row no :','to row no :' which will vary from test to test.
I encounter this problem only while running Global & Action sheets together.
When there is data only in Global sheet ,it works fine when 'Run on all rows' is selected.
