I am currently developing QTP 6.5 scripts on my local desktop. Am using external Excel files as for loading data.
I need to import these scripts to Test Director now. How can I import the external excel files too,so that anyone who has access to Test Director can change the data in the excel files and start remote execution on a designated machine?
Any pointers in the right direction would be very helpful.
For exporting your excel file, just attach it to the folder where the tests are stocked.
About modifications of the excel file and execution of your tests, the TD admin could assign privilege/rigth for specific user.
I hope so this will help you.

QTP & TD
Technically speaking you dont have to necessarily move all your test assets to TD. It is a recommended solution since you would like to have all the files in one location to which everyone has access. But if you have your excel file stored in a place where it can be accessed by the users that should work as well.
So you a) either have your excel file on the TD server, use it's location information to import the sheet, have the users asigned write rights OR b) have the excel file on a common server to which everyone has access and use this.
