    Environment Variables.Database connections

    Hi
I was wondering if there is a way to place the database connection strings that are used in the db outputs in an external variable file. so that if the environemnt that I am using to test a web app with a db changes then I only need to change the connection string in the external file. Is this possible?

    Hi,
This is very much possible... you can create an environment variable for connection string... and when ever the connection string changes you can create the new environment varible and use that variable or just change the string in the existing variable.

You can create a environment Variable in an external file and store the connection string.

Thanks, I was trying to do too many things at once and completely overlooked the simplicity of this functionality within QTP. I had forgotten the extensive use that the external variables can play..

Great, I now have a global setting variable for db checkpoints.

Thanks very much for guiding me back in the right direction..
