I've been having a problem where if QTP is open, my IE browser will crash sporadically. Also - when I'm trying to record or run a test - it will ALWAYS crash when I have an application up that uses ActiveX.
I have a service request open with Mercury. They've assigned a senior engineer to it now. I had a Webex session with them last week where they were able to recreate the problem. It seems to be related to a conflict between the Web add-in and the ActiveX add-in, where if one or the other is disabled, the browser won't crash (but, of course, I then can't capture everything). If both those add-ins are active, IE will crash/close (without an error message).
This seems to have started to happen after some automatic windows updates were pushed down for Win XP SP2.
Has anyone else out there seen IE crashing/closing?
Hey wfilip I faced the same probs with IE WinXP SP2 the error often I got was "The memory could not be read referenced memory at 0x00000334" and the IE crashes so I just restarted the system once. Now it is working properly.
You too try and let me know.
I experienced a similar problem where I tried to automate Outlook web Access of MS-Exchange Servers 2000 and 2003 with QTP6.5 inspite of any Add-In/s(combinations) I select. Please note that this problem exists while recording only not when QTP is open.
While recording itself IE generates an error and shuts down.
This problem exists for all other IE versions except IE6.0(Make sure no service pack attached)
I did not see the reason why.As per the Read Me file of QTP,it must support IE(5.01-6.0).Mercury did not mention any service packs for IE in it(strange!!!)
I got to read that QTP does not support any MS-Office applications in this forum.
I suspect,Outlook does come into MS-Office utilities?Does it?
Yes. I got response back saying that QTP 6.5 does not officially support xp with sp2. I am having this problem with QTP 8.2 -win xp sp2.
But we are not satisfied with there response. I think i allow some auto update on xp sp2. i thing he is the culprit for this problem because all of my team members have same environment. They never had such problem.
