Winrunner\'s functions in QTP
Hello, all testers.
I have such a problem. I worked a long time with WinRunner, and I have a big collection (not huge, but considerable) of tests, functions written for WinRunner.
Now I read, that QuickTestPro is more better, oriented on WebTesting (that's what I do always), and I want to use this soft instead of WinRunner.
The user's guide, help says that this two programs are compatible (I can run WinRunner's tests & functions in quicktestpro).
Now the problem is: I have a WinRunner's function, that receives some GUI objects as parameters. I can't associate QuickTestPro's Repository objects with WinRunners GUI objects!!! This two programms have DIFFERENT properties to identify objects uniquelly.
If somebody knows - please advise me something. Maybe some link, that explains this problem or smth like that... The QTP help is too pure in this question
Another types of data are sent-received without problems (like strings, numbers, datatable parametrs etc.)
Re: Winrunner\'s functions in QTP
Why would you change if you don't have to?? WinRunner is fine for Web based stuff, I have never encountered something I could not do.
The only reason, in my opinion, to switch to QTP from WinRunner is when you need to support an environment only QTP will. This was why we transitioned from WR and VBasic to QTP and VB.NET
Also what you mention about the reality as opposed to the dream of calling WinRunner functions. We investigated it and ended up re-writing all of out functions again in VB or as actions within QTP.
