I'm fairly new to QTP (we have version 8.0) but we did have it running on XP SP2 clients and everything seemed rosy until we received a new client build which is more secure than the previous version. This resulted in QTP being unable to identify any objects.

Mercury have informed me that I need version 8.2 for XP SP2 and that QTP will only work for a "super user". This is apparently due to QTP building up repository items through use of the registry. Given that the clients are as they should be and any alterations to allow QTP to work invalidate large areas of testing . . . is anyone aware of any way around this?
