I think the best use of QTP and most of the Automated test tools is to test websites.
I am testing a website with many different choices (tree branches) so I have thousands of probabilities which make it hard to test each and everything, I tried to use Accessibility check points to check the compliance between W3C and the website pages but most of these check points failed because you can't access most of the objects using the keyboard (no ALT).
can any body tell me what are the main things to check in a website?! I don't feel that QTP is useful if I just do Record/Play without catching bugs, I need complex check points to catch bugs.
Thank you and I appreciate your help
This totally depends on what you are trying to achieve. There are many ways of setting QTP up to record certain things even before you actually start recording your playback script and also there is descriptive programming and customisation to the script afterwards. Maybe revisiting the tutorial or attending one of the courses on QTP might help.
I agree with maxj. You should slso check into automatic checkpoints in the advanced web settings. QTP can actually set up alot of checkpoints without you having to do extra work. Another thing you may need to do is check out the Quick Test Plus utility for configuring checkpoint propertys.
It sounds like you need to get up to speed with DP. Using DP you can access the internal properties of your web objects. You can combine DP with GetROPRoperty Exist etc. to create your required complex checkpoints.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">Are you talking about the Document Object Model (DOM)? What's DP?
One More Question.
Do any one knows what is Electronic Data Capture Databases (EDCs)? is it related to the QTP, I noticed that the QTP has a DB checkpoint but I never use it, so is it good to use QTP for DB testing? or we need to do the manual IV and VI using SQL?!!
