I think I read something about a way to rename checkpoints. I'm just not sure where. My search in the forum pages as well as on QTP Plus help files went fruitless. Anyone know of a way to edit checkpoint names?
Yea Well Vidhu, that's possible if you rename the object before creating the checkpoint. Once the checkpoint is created, I don't see how the name can be changed. Also, unlike in WinRunner, QTP does not create checkpoints as changeable text files.
No you cannot rename a checkpoint once it is created. I use 6.5 and there is no functionality for it. I think this has been kicked around on MI's site, but that is a rumor. I haven't heard anything about it in 8.0 so I assume it still is impossible.
Is there any reason you want to rename checkpoints other than for increased readability / style?
I'm using a 3rd-party QTP adapter that imports test results step-by-step into Rational's Test Manager. Having checkpoints with inane names like "2005-01-12 22:28:55_1 GMT" is certainly something I'd like to avoid at my entertaining review meetings. Plus people not involved with the actual QA process may find it hard to relate the test case steps with the checkpoint/verification points.
Ofcourse I'd prefer the improved readability too (at the expense of being called 'An*l'...something that my admin secretary will never pass up on)
