Thanks for the input, I have tried it and its failing, must be logical name related. When running this test I have Test Director8 open and as its another occurrence of IE I think it could be confusing QTP.
Any ideas on how to specifically tell QTP what browswer it should be looking at?
Sounds like an identification problem. Depending on how you identify browsers QTP uses CreationTime to determine which browser it should be looking at. If you are using TD to drive the QTP script then it should be the first instance of IE opened. When the script runs you should have 2 instances of IE on your PC. So the index value for the IE browser you are using to test should be 1.
So you could try a descriptive programming statement. This is just a sample so you will need to modify it to fit your needs.
If you are using the recording option by providing the URL to record on then you might want to ensure you have the 'Do not record and run on browsers that are already open' checkbox checked. You will find this under 'Test>Record and Run Settings'
