Action templates in QTP
Can anyone have idea about action templates???
Well, I am working on a product on which I have to create seperate actions for each scenario. But in all the actions i am calling some external file and functions written in another file. I have seen the QTP documentation which states that we can create a template in such case. In that case we just have to use that template and need not to write those function and file calls repetitively in all actions.
But I want to know that whether I can create more than one action template. If yes then how will I use it.
Can anyone show some light on this?????
Re: Action templates in QTP
I don't think this is possible because according to the QTP documentation.
Only the filename ActionTemplate.mst is recognized as an action template in QTP.
What you could do it create all your action templates placing them into a folder under the
in your <QuickTest Installation Folder>\dat folder\New Folder or which ever location you prefer.
When you are ready to use any of your template copy the text file, then paste it under your <QuickTest Installation Folder>\dat folder and rename that file as ActionTemplate.mst.
This is the process that I am using right now, I saved all of my different action template into a folder and when I am ready to use it. I copy it into the QTP\dat Folder and renaming the file as ActionTemplate.mst.
I hope this helps!
