QTP and page identification
How does QTP get the Test Object Properties that one sees in the Object Spy? Or should I rather ask "where"?
I mostly work with Web objects, although I also have the java-add in.
Re: QTP and page identification
In web testing, the properties are pulled directly out of the html code. Same as you would see if you select View Source on the web page.
If you are working with a Java app it is the properties as exposed to the system via the application.
The primary point to keep in mind is, you only get what is put there...so if the developers are not naming objects as they put them on the form, you will not get good object names either, and that is one of the biggest problems we see.
