where do i get to see all the checkpoints.while starting an application all are disabled.now when i want to put a checkpoint, after recording a script,i just right click on the application and see a few checkpoints ,are there only these checpoints or any other as well. What is the use of output value where is it used
If I am interpretting your question properly, checkpoints can be entered at different times (for example, during your record session, after your record session using the active screen, etc.) Depending on where you are will determine what checkpoints will be enabled and which will be greyed out.
The 8 types of checkpoints listed are all the checkpoints supported for the various applications QTP will validate.
(The response to your output question is on your other posting). Hope that helps.
To set a checkpoint while you are recording, click back to QTP during your record session and click on the Insert > Checkpoints (just as you do when you are adding checkpoints when you are not recording). All the checkpoint types available for insertion will be enabled.
You Can add Chk Points Based on the Your requirements and verification Points. You can Include Check Point while Recording, Comming back to QTP Appication Screen by Selecting the Appropriate Chk Point.Even You Can Add the Check Point after Completion of the Recording Action by Selection the Objects in Active Screen by Selective type of Check point Based on Availability options.. Secondly the Purpose of Out Put value's to Verify the Value those You Passed to Test and those were Used ... You Can Confirm those Out put Value in Your Test Result Screen By Selecting "Run Time Data" Columm
THANX FOR UR REPLY Sodonald
but still my problem is not solved
while recording i set a checkpoint by going back to the quick test pro screen but after that i am unable to come back to the application on which i want to set the checkpoint.like if i am testing word then i am unable to come back to word to put the checkpoint.i hope that u will be able to help me in that.bye
When inserting a checkpoint in record mode, QTP returns you automatically to the most recent window that had focus or was active. If you happened to click to another window before you clicked to the QTP window it will return you to that window and not the window of your AUT. (You can see what window QTP views was last active from the last statement recorded, for example "Window("Microsoft Word")..."
Since you mentioned Word, I confirmed that there is no different behavior than what I have seen in other applications. While recording, I clicked from my Word document to QTP, clicked Insert > Standard Checkpoint; QTP automatically returned focus to the Word window, I clicked the object I wanted to checkpoint and QTP prompted me for the properties; I selected the properties and saved the checkpoint.
Then I threw notepad into the mix and was able to insert checkpoints in both Word and notepad as long as I made sure the correct window was "activated" prior to clicking to the QTP window (and I did this by verifying what statement was just previously recorded.)
