    Importing Object Reposity

Is it possible to import a repository from a .TSR file?

I don't think you can but I'm hoping I'm wrong!

    Re: Importing Object Reposity

In short, no. QTP has a completely differnt way of handling GUI objects and Mercury as of yet haven't made a conversion tool for TSR files.

    Sorry

    Jonathan
    Hope this helps

    Re: Importing Object Reposity

Cheers Jonathan - what I meant to say was is there a way of importing an object repository from one test to another. I know you can use a shared repository but say I had 3 tests and wanted to merge all their object repositories for a new test - is there any way i could do this?

    Re: Importing Object Reposity

    Yes, two options actually.

The first is the Object Repository Merge Utility, provided by Mercury Interactive as part of the QuickTest Plus utilities. Depending on the version of QTP you have, you can either find this on the CD your software came from or download it from the MI website. This is a pretty much a force merge of two or more tsr files into a completely new tsr file.

The second option is a free utility off my website, the Advanced Object Repository Editor. It allows you to open two object repositories side by side, and freely move assets around. This is a better solution if ther is a lot of overlap and duplication in the files you are working with, or if you anticipate a lot of needed user intervention, e.g. one test defined objects using a different set of properties than the other. The version of the tool on the website right now is 6.0 compliant; we have an 8.0 version in house, and hope to release by the end of next week.

    Good Luck,
    David

DOH!!! -- Supes, sorry, site got a major face lift last weekend, and that link got messed up...in all honesty, I was told about it, but lost track of it in the mix. It will take me about 24 hours to get it fixed up, please check again tomorrow. Feel free to contact me directly, dgilbert@sirius-sqa.com. Thanx.

    David
