Any stand-alone script run engine?
I'm new to QTP, but I've used another automated testing tool that had a stand-alone script run engine that one could install on as many systems as one liked, at no charge. All it could do was run compiled scripts - one couldn't view them, develop, or anything else. I'm wondering if QTP has anything like this? I've noticed the Remote Agent, but I've found nothing about being able to install this independently.
Re: Any stand-alone script run engine?
The short answer is "no". Remote Agent allows an application to execute a QTP test remotely. Based on settings you can modify, it determines how QTP behaves when a test is run by a remote application such as TestDirector. However, the QTP pc must have a licensed copy of QTP in order to execute.
We use it to free up our desktops so we can execute our QTP scripts on a lab machine and continue to do our other work on our desktops.
