Problem with Shared Object Repository with Test Director
I launch QTP from Test Director. I have a new test that I have not recorded the script for yet. I record the script and save it. At this point, the Object Repository is Per Action. I want to change it to Shared.
In QTP, when I select Test/Setting/Resources, the Object Repository Type section is all grayed out. The Per Action radio button is selected and I can not change the setting to Shared.
In the QTP manual, it says you must save the Shared Object Repository (SOR) before you specify the object repository file in the Resources tab of the Test settings dialog box.
So in QTP I selected Tools/Object Repository/Export/File System. This opened up the Save Attachment dialog. I named the .tsr file and saved it to my hard drive.
In the Test Director Test Plan module, I went to my test script, selected the Attachment tab, and selected the File icon. The windows Open dialog displays. I navigated to where I saved the .tsr file on my hard drive and selected it. The .tsr file now displays as an attached file in Test Director.
When I go back to Settings/Resource in QTP, the Object Repository Type dialog is still grayed out.
Any idea where I went wrong? Do I have to specify I want to use the SOR before actually recording the script?

Re: Problem with Shared Object Repository with Test Director
From the QTP user guide:
"You can change the object repository mode for a test if the test does not call any external actions and if the test does not contain any steps or any objects."
So you need to change to shared before starting to record.
Hope this helps.
