Unable to succesfully pass more than 1 action in test-suite

Hello All,

I am using QuickTest Pro v.6.5 and working with a web application.
Let mу duplicate my steps:
1. Press Record button, then in Record and Run Settings I indicate which browser on what page I wish to open.
2. Then, I record my first Action (simply as in automatically opened web-browser login to the system and then press Logout).
This Action can be succesfully run.
3. Then, I add a new Action, in Record and Run Settings everything is the same. Record new Action (repeating the first action steps).

And THEN, I am unable to succesfully run the second action separately, and unable to run the whole test-suite succesfull. QuickTest Pro is just unable to open web-browser once again on Action2.

What shall I do? I am driving mad...

What shall I do? I am driving mad...
Don't drive while mad unless you live in New York city or Los Angeles.

Are you simply trying to repeat the test steps in different actions? If so - why? Please provide more detail on what you are trying to accomplish. Other things to check before you respond...

1) Are the object names the same in both actions?
2) Are you expecting them to be?
3) Are you inputting different data or navigating differently in any way in the second action?

4) How familiar are you with QTP?

QTP script launches the browser only once first time if you have specified in the record and run settings. If you close the browser at the end of first action, second action doesn't open the browser. Either you don't close untill the script is completed or launch the browser in the second action using scripting methods.

Thanks

Another way would be not to close the browser at the end of the iteration but navigate back to your start page (if that's possible).

Check out this :

1. Make sure your second action exactly starts at the point where your first action ends.

(or)

2. Place the Browser("XXX").Navigate("XXXXXX") statement at the beginning of your second action.

Hope this works

You could also just manually start another browser:

SystemUtil.Run "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe", "http://www.yahoo.com", "", "open"

Just a thought,
