    QTP problem

    Hi,

Does anybody can help me about this problem. I recorded a QTP script to test a VB application, when I run the script after recording, it works fine, however, after several days I run the same script again, the script freezes because some objects can't be identified.

I am really appreciate you any suggestion.

    Thanks,
    Jennifer

    Re: QTP problem

Have any of the object properties changed?

Is the script synchronized to wait until the objects are present?

    Re: QTP problem

Actually I am a newbie of QTP. After I recorded the script, I didn't change anything, same script and same application. Any suggestion? Thanks.

    Re: QTP problem

Have you tried the tutorial or received training? Both are highly recommended.

It is difficult to tell what your problem might be. If I had to guess, I would suggest some variability in object properties or name changes or synchronization issues.

    Re: QTP problem

Thanks for reply, I tried tutorial and received training. Usually the WinObject can't be recognized, such as, WinObject("ATL:023DAB80").
Is that possible I changed setting for record other scripts and when I reopen the one which was recorded several days ago, the QTP can't go back the original setting?

It appears that the winobject may have a variable name. You need to confirm this and if it is the case - use a regular expression for that property perhaps.

    Re: QTP problem

Sorry, could you explain a litter further. Usually the ListView of VB application was recognized as WinObject and the WinObject("ATL:023DAB80") stand for a particular row of the list. How to implement this situation using variable name and regular expression.

    Thanks.

    Re: QTP problem

There is a recent post regarding regular expresions in this forum.

If you only want to recognise the object and not verify the dynamic value you could deselect that property and select a different one (if its needed to uniquely identify the object). Take a look at the object in the Tools > Object Repository - Add remove tab.

    Mark.
