Checkpoints and radio buttons
On one of the user interfaces in my application, the user has the option to select one radio button from six different options. When the web page is displayed, by default the first radio button is checked. When creating a test script using Quicktest, I change this to the 5th radio button.
When I rerun the script without checkpoints, everything works fine. However, when I go back into the script and try to insert a checkpoint immediately after the step where I selected the 5th radio button, I get a run error when I run the script.
To create the checkpoint, I right clicked over the 5th radio button and selected the "Insert Bitmap Checkpoint" option. This eventually opens up the Bitmap Checkpoint Properties page with a image of a filled radio button. I select OK and the checkpoint is inserted.
I think the problem is that I should be using the "Insert Output Value" option instead of the "Insert Bitmap Checkpoint" option. I'm not certain how to setup the Output value to detect a filled radio button.
When I choose that option, it opens up the Output Value Properties interface. The following data is present:
Logical name: status
All of the fields are Type ABC, which indicates a constant.
The various Properties are (Values in parentheses):
all items (B,G,Y,R,W,N)
html tag (INPUT)
items count (6)
selected item index (5)
Hope this is enough information for someone to figure out what my problem is.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Re: Checkpoints and radio buttons
Try this, Try inserting a normal check point and If you right click on that particular Radio button in the active screen you will be able to insert a checkpoint as well as select the properties of the check point right there and insert this after the line in which QTP clicks on the Radio button.
Let me know if you still face problems.
