Printing failure results to a file
I am new to using Quicktest and can not seem to find a way to save the results of the test to a file, only print. Is there a way to do this, maybe into an excel file?
Re: Printing failure results to a file
No easy way of which I know. The QTP plus pack that comes on the QTP 6 installation disk has instruction for implementing one's own report event listener. That means that one could write some VB code to do whatever with the report events - like write them to a file in a user specified format.
I keep hoping that someone VB savvy will do the rest of us a service and implement one that writes results to an XML file with a custom schema. A stack like api where one could push and pop contexts would allow for laying out the desired schema in the test script - logging some messages to be grouped into a category together - then telling the custom reporter to "pop" the context and close out the xml node by emitting the appropriate closing tag(s).
