parsing xml response data with Astra
since astra is meant for web testing, and my server uses XML post/response (obviously through HTTP), then would anyone say that Astra is easier to test this sort of situation than Load Runner would be? i dont know anything about Astra... but i do need capability to test on any port, using HTTP style post/responses...and parse XML responses and validate the data in certain XML keys...
basically, its your basic .NET web service, sorta like: http://services.pagedownweb.com/ZipCodes.asmx

In my experience, Astra QuickTest is a tool best used to control a browser. It's not so hot with the protocol-level testing you're talking about. If you want to get into SOAP or XMI type testing projects, you may want to write a set of scripts (shell? java? asp?) and use QuickTest to launch the tests and record the results.
