    Click on Pin - Google maps

    Hi All

    I am working on a web application which uses google maps api (using IE 11 on Win 7)

    The page has a map container with map dispayed in it.

    My test is to randomly type and address and check the pin is dropped and i need to click on the pin

    I tried using insight objects but when ever i change the address the pin is not recognized. I have used inspect in chrome to get some details on the pin which is shown as an image but no class is defined by the developers.

    Any suggestions from experienced on how i can make my script to click on Pin image for any address i enter?

    thanks in advance

    You(or developer) need to set optimized: false when creating the pin. Ideally with a flag so you can turn it on/off in different environments. Then you will be able to select them with xpath/css.

    Since you've posted in the UFT forum;

    Have you tried using an 'Insight Object' for your pin?
    Assuming there is only going to be one pin visible on the map at run time, it ought to work.

    Work with Insight test objects

    thanks a lot for valuable suggestion.

    xpath seems to work for some of the objects in the Map container however when there is no class defined for some of the objects then i am facing issues and Pin is one of those.

    insight object is not working for me. With our AUT using google maps API the pin dropped on any address will have some specific attributes and when i change the address (for data driven) the insight object desnt seem to recognize this new address pin

    Yeah even though my post referenced Selenium it is still relevant for UFT as it would expose those as identifiers.
