Unistalling QTP from 2012 on Windows 10

I am trying to uninstall QTP from my laptop before installing UFT 14. Mostly to save space. I don't know if old versions on the machine are OK.

I get an error saying that I am being blocked and to contact my administrator. I am the only user on the machine. I would think that I am the admin.

    What should I do?

    Thanks,

    Kevin

I want to install UFT 14 but it gives an error saying that I have to remove QTP first.

    Fair enough.

Control panel and uninstall gives me error saying:
This app has been blocked for your protection.

An administrator has blocked you from running this app. For more information contact the administrator.

    C:windows\installer\lab3b8.msi

I ran the file. It is the QTP one that gives the option to install, repair or delete.

Delete gives me the error above.

I tried lowering the User Account Control. Same error.

I cross posted this question on Joe Colontonio's site. I hope that is OK.

    Thanks,

    Kevin

I got this helpful tip from:

How to Circumvent “This App Has Been Blocked For Your Protection” to Install Apps In Windows 10

open the CMD window with admin rights by right clicking.

Navigate to the c:\windows\installer\1ab3b8.msi file and run it.

Now you wont get the error and you can get rid of QTP.

    Thanks,

    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,

Everything now in UFT install/uninstall requires local admin rights.
In our company, IT Security Team remov.ed local admin rights even on our local PCs. We have to open a ticket to get a temporary 4-8 hours of having a local admin rights.

    Thanks
    Gilbert
