Connecting UFT to commercial tool for comparing data tables.

Does anyone make calls from UFT or another testing tool -> a database comparison tool?

I don't care for the database checkpoints in UFT because there is not a programmable way to tell it when to take an update snap shot or when to do the compare.

I did a google search and saw about 20 data table compare tools right away. I'm looking for one that I can call from UFT. Maybe from an API.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Kevin

Kevin I have always queried the DB and verified the returned record set in UFT. I've never needed to use a tool, I guess you are doing quite complex comparisons?

I've called a myriad of 3rd party tools from UFT Selenium, SoapUI, Windiff, Accverify etc so it should be possible to do.

    Mark,

The queries are simple SQL Selects on a single table. I could do queries and store the results in Excel Workbook sheets. Take a new snapshot and store the results in another sheet and then compare the sheets cell by cell and send mismatches to a file. Maybe I could change the color in both files on mismatches. It does not sound that difficult.

I was wondering if there was a tool on the market that would take the snapshots as "Sparse" files and then do compares later on. Maybe it could also produce some nice reports.

It looks as if I will be writing the code myself which looks like fun anyway.

    Thanks,

    Kevin
