I am looking through the HP UFT 12.01 User Guide for Templates. I know they are being detailed and the authors are trying to be clear, but sometimes it just does not make sense to me. They are talking about a canvas. I don't know what that is.
My question is:
Is there such a thing as an Action Template? I would like each New Action to have certain text and also Parameters with default values pre populated.
Can this be done?
There used to be the ability to create a file called ActionTemplate.mst in the QTP bin directory and this would be 'pulled' in when you create a new action.
Not sure if this is still supported Kevin.
I have heard about this but do not ever remember trying it.
I was hoping that there was a way to select the template when I need it.
Maybe I will name an action "Template". It would serve as the base line.
There is still template functionality in QTP 11.5, at least. There are two test templates you can create. One is used by QTP/UFT and the other is used by QC/ALM whenever they create a new test. They have to be placed in the correct directory and have to be named very specifically. I cannot recall the details right now but could probably find out.
There's also the ActionTemplate.mst file in <QTP directory>/dat. I haven't used it, but it's likely what you're looking for.
