    Reporter.filter new option idea

The run results viewer(RRV) filters out data being sent to it using

    the .filter property.

    It has choices for s
    show every thing
    show warnings and fails
    show fails

I want to see results for pass, warning and fail but I don't want to see the informational information.

For example the RRV shows information for .clicks.

I don't want to see the information that the UFT Commands send to the RRV.

I realize there is the choice of filtering to only show errors and maybe also warnings.

Then have a function that temporarily also turns on/off pass filtering.

Does anyone else think another filter mode that would be nice to have is a way to turn off the command information?

    Thanks,

    Kevin

Kevin in my experience the majority of QTP automators prefer to use custom reporting functionality (Excel, HTML, Text) rather than the QTP reports which IMHO are an unwanted time and memory overhead.

Are you running your tests via ALM?

Have you thought about overriding the Reporter.Report method?

    Mark,

I also use external reporting as you mentioned. I have had clients say that they would like to also have the option to see the Run Results with less clutter.

How would I over ride the Reporter.Report method? Do I create a new class with the same name or something like that?

I remember reading about it in Tarun's Book. The one that has the story about the interview process. I forgot the details.

    Thanks,

    Kevin

I'm looking for an external reporting function/facility so that I can customise the report from UFT - could you suggest any?

I found the best thing to do was start collecting my own messages and send them to MS Word, Excel or some other output like Mark mentions above.

Mark...I usually write functions in a harness that sends out messages to Excel, Word or something else. How can the UFT report be overwritten to tell it to do the outputting to some other place like I do by collecting information from functions and sending it to outputs?

    Thanks,

    Kevin
When in Florida, Don't Tampa with the code. I made this up.
