Does anyone use a good automation task request template? That's effective at getting the information required to automate requirement(such as home page). Automation team as to provide the functional testing team a template so they can create tickets for us to automate new requirements. Right now they use the bug workitem format but that's not really helpful for automation tasks. Please could you provide ideas about the fields that would be useful or you might have a template that works for your team.
A bug template is used in your company... but the place where i worked so far does not contains any template. Just an email which says what to automate and then we have to contact the manual team to get the requirements and provide in a spreadsheet with there own format... Some time we even do not get any spread sheet rather a word of mouth...
Do others get any kind of requirement in the form of templates
I think what areddy09 is asking here is some kind of a Service Request Form that can be filled out by a Dev Team or from another group of QA team who does Manual testing only to tell the Automation team that they have something ready to be automated.
This is the type of form that I have been suggesting at work also, but it has not been approved.
Currently, we do get the requests from emails. Then QA has to start asking the stuffs (see below) that should have been provided already in the first place.
What I wanted to include in the form (Note: this is in addition to the Manual Test Cases or Stories) are the following information which should help make things easier for the Automation team:
(Basically made up of checkboxes with an area for Additional info)
- Any Third-Party tools or controls used: Telerik, jQueryUI, Adobe Flex, etc. (so proper Add-ins are easily identified)
- Is Localization to be considered? If so, which languages?
- Are the automated scripts supposed to work on different browsers? Which ones and what versions?
- URLs for the Test Environments
- User Credentials to use
- Database names and connections
- Any special test data to use?
- Target release date
