Need assistance in automating the proxy authentication popup in chrome browser (v24) using QTP 11 . I have handle this using recovery scenario , it works fine in IE & FF . As the popup dialog identified as win object in Chrome , recovery scenario is not invoked .
is there any plugin available or effective way to mitigate this scenario i.e. clicking on cancle on proxy authenication popup, apart from sendkeys concept .
QTP 11 supports chrome with this patch QTPWEB_00088 & QTPWEB_00102 , I am able to execute the scripts also .
Only hiccup , proxy popup dialog appears as win object , which may not be able to handle through recovery .
is there any patch available or best solution to overcome this ?
Instead of using the RS, you can use QTP to check whether this winobject dialog is exist in Chrome and then click OK/cancel. There are multiple ways to handle with the dialog in Chrome such as using the windialog (Open UFT with web add-in)
My Advice is to push back on your network engineers and create a situation where you don't need to authenticate your tests.
Automating anything beyond the SUT, does not give you any benefit. Why write automation to test Google's code? I get it you see it as a necessary evil because that's how you would test it manually. However, in the grand picture, your company did not write that proxy authentication, so you shouldn't have to be tasked to maintain handling it.
Ask you network engineers to create that situation where you won't have to do that.
I completely agree with David. However, sometimes, I know that it's not possible. I am not sure of your situation(whether you are the only automation member on the team or you have a bunch of vms to maintain), but maybe you can try a Chrome plugin to save your proxy credentials. IE and FF work with Microsoft, but Chrome does not. Try this plugin, I have not used it but seems like what you need:
