QTP 11 and Multip OS's
We have QTP 11 installed and we have a requirement where in we need to test a web based application in different browsers [Firefox, Chrome, IE6,7,8] and different platforms [windows 6, windows 7, windows 8, Linux, Mac].
Is it possible to use QTP tool in different OS's. Is there any work around solutions. It is not possible to get Selenium resources for this.
No, QTP can not meet those requirements. Selenium could.
QTP versions earlier than 12 are supported only on Windows operating systems.
With UFT 12 a feature has been released at the "Technology Preview level" for running GUI tests on Safari on a remote Mac system. But UFT itself (the full product) is not supported on Mac; only a special remote agent gets installed to allow you to run tests.
And there is no support for UFT on a Linux OS at all.
(Opinions and information contained in this post are wholly my own and do not reflect the opinions of my employer.)
You can run your QTP 11 on different browsers Chrome, Safari, Firefox and so on... on MAC, Linux ... even run the same QTP tests on mobile devices using add-in called "Tachi" from Automation Samurai.

Also you can watch quick youtube video how to use it here: http://youtu.be/ImjdtL592aU

I am using the UFT 12 running on VM (windows server 2008 R2) my scripts runs on 3 browsers IE 11, Firefox 27.0 and Chrome 36.0.
when things gets harder ,the harder gets going
Does Samurai create Selenium Code in the background? Is it a converter tool where the Selenium stays hidden?

Benefits using our add-in is that you will maintain and develop only one QTP script on IE and the rest our add-in will take care of. It will run the same QTP script that you developed on Safari/Chrome/Fireforx/Opera/HeadlessBrowser/Ipad/Iphone and so on... in Mac/Widows/Linux as well as running your QTP scripts in the Cloud (through BrowserStack or SaurceLabs clouds)
No changes to your scripts are required.
You can say that we took what's the best in Selenium right now and gives it to QTP users without them learning it.
We are also working on few new features that will benefit QTP users further.

I have UFT 12.01 installed and trying to run tests from Safari on remote Mac.
i installed UFT Connection Agent.dmg file in Mac provided if i open the connection agent it shows "Agent is not running" instead of Agent is running.
i read UFT 12.01 supports Safari version 6, 6.10 & 7. From my UFT, i am trying to establish remote connection by entering host name or IP.
do my windows machine(where UFT installed) and Mac machine need to be in same network?
Has anyone tried this before?? Please share the steps to establish remote connection and run tests from Mac.
Thanks in advance !!!
