    QTP is suppressing application dialog

    Hi

I am using QTP 11.0. And we are automating a windows based application which is developed in MFC, VC++ along with some third party controls.

The problem I am facing is that, one particular dialog box is being suppressed by QTP. When i run my scripts, the dialog is not displayed. If QTP is open and not running also the dialog is not displayed. But if QTP is not open and i try the same scenario manually, i am getting the dialog box.

My scripts are stuck at this point, since the next window is based on the selection made in this dialog.

When i tried to spy the dialog, it is recognized by QTP without any issues.

Any thoughts of what could be the reason and how to proceed in this scenario.

    Divya,
I sounds as if some dialogs are displayed and some are not. When you use the spy on a dialog that is displayed, you can see object information.
    Is this what is occurring?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

Can you try to see whether the Window is available by using any of the following methods

    YourObject.Exist
    YourObject.MakeObjVisible()
    YourObject.Object.Focus
    YourObject.Object.Highlight

If everything above also falls then QTP might intendly closing the dialog, where it has very less possibility.

As you are saying, it is a Dialog window, Check YourDialogWindow.Active.

If you disable the Active-X add-in, does this behavior still occur?

What version of Visual C++ does your app require and does this conflict with the version QTP 11 uses?
