PDF Report testing.
Is it possible to automate reports generated in PDF? I have installed UFT11:53 on my machine and trying to automate PDF reports. Mainly I am interested in counting images by colors(which are in different colors such Red, Yellow and Green)on PDF reports. I tried to put some Bitmap checkpoints but did not work.
I would really appriciate your help.
I asked about pdf testing on this forum a few months back. Some answers were that I should take a look at the QTP documentation( I think it was 11.52) back then for pdf testing. I took a quick look and saw that when I went into record mode, that an option for testing PDF existed. I tried it and saw test points that allowed me to check for things in a PDF file. I did not go deep into looking at it. I just remember being impressed by the level of detail they provided for a test point for a PDF. I don't have a copy of 11.53 or 12 handy, but maybe you can try the record mode and look under test points and see if is of value.
Hope I was of value here.
I don't think the PDF Checkpoint will work for the images & colors you're trying to validate. To check a PDF, you'd use the File Content Checkpoint. It extracts the text from the PDF and allows you to perform validations against that, but no images would get pulled out of it.
Maybe that feature will be part of UFT 12?
