Validating pictures in a PDF
One of the AUT launches a PDF which is displayed on IE 8. The version of Adobe reader is 9.5. QTP 11
I need to validate if the picture is being uploaded(displayed on the PDF)
I have tried to use the standard checkpoint but it fails in various ways
1: Picture is displayed across different PDF`s in a different position
2: Even if I get lucky with the picture location to use the checkpoint it fails with negligible details
I was trying to attach the object repository, pdf document and the differences between actual and expected checkpoint screen print but I dont have the permissions to do so.
Has someone worked on something like this before ?
I have heard good things about PDF validation in UFT 11.52, but I have not tried it yet.
You may want to give this a try and let us know your result.
Perhaps another approach.
As an automator, you're more concerned if the developers broke code than emulating user behavior. Validating look and feel is a very hard to maintain. Usually for file generation like image, report files, video, audio, you'll want to do at a unittest level where you have finer control. This simplifies things by avoiding working with 3rd party software and plugins.
At the end to end level, you're more concerned about UI to backend system integration risks. So end to end tests should be more focused on exercising complete work flows, performing the action, then validating the expected behavior to a shallow degree.
I have no other means of validating this, the images are loaded on a fie server which is not accessible, I am only left with validating this in the PDF. I just need to make sure the images are uploaded not trying to follow the user flow. Thank you
I will try to get the 11.52 version, might have to check the license needs and feasibility. Thank you
