QTP does not recognize Japanese characters

    Folks,

I have a small issue: our company started to create the same product but in different languages (e.g., Japanese, Chinese..etc); the problem that I have is that QTP 10.0 does not recognize the text in the objects. When I use GetROProperty("text"), I get "??????". Any idea
    Thanks,

    1. MsgBox may giving you the unsupported characters but print will show them correctly

    Systemutil.Run "iexplore.exe","google.co.jp"

    var= Browser("Google").Page("Google_2").Link("ドライブ").Ge tROProperty("text")

    Select Case var
    Case "ドライブ"
    msgbox "hi"
    Case 2
    End Select

    print Browser("Google").Page("Google_2").Link("ドライブ").Ge tROProperty("text")
    'This will give unreadable char
    msgbox Browser("Google").Page("Google_2").Link("ドライブ").Ge tROProperty("text")

2.Spy and OR may show unreadable character but if you copy them on UFT you will get the correct Japanese characters.

    Hi,
If you print it out / write it out in excel it shouldnt be a problem. I have worked previously on a project with Turkish characters were not parsed when passed through scripted component parameters showing as ???
We used excel in only that case to read the text.
Also multi lingual characters i believe should not be littered in your qtp test scripts, since it would be very brittle.
Typically you should look into your database and populate controls accordingly
    You might have something like
    LabelName English Japanese
    lblName <English> <Japanese>
We should populate the values from the database before the script executes
