Latest version of Firefox supported by QTP 10
I did a search in this Forum and found out QTP 10 supports Firefox 3.6. I may have missed something.
Is that the latest version of Firefox supported by QTP 10 or is there a later version?
Is there any reason why you don't use QTP 11? It works with much higher version numbers. As a consultant / contractor I usually use the version of
QTP that is provided so I don't know what goes into the decision of using more recent versions. QTP 11 is up to something like version 18.
bklabel1: Just like what you said "I usually use the version of QTP that is provided" and that's why I posted this topic. As a new guy in the block, you just can't walk in and tell everyone to switch to QTP 11. Someone in the group keeps saying "QTP 10 does not work with Firefox" and I said "That is not true.". The problem now is that Firefox is all the way up to version 19 now (at least on my machine at work) and I cannot use that version with QTP 10 to prove that "QTP 10 works with Firefox". I've used QTP 11 in previous company so I know what you are talking about when it comes support on later versions of Firefox. I hope this answers your question. (BTW: I am now in the process of installing QTP 11 in one machine and if I can show the team why it is better than staying with QTP 10, then I am almost sure that we will be upgrading all the machines from QTP 10 to QTP 11 (unless people starts talking more good things about the latest version, then the boss may decide and tell us to go from QTP 10 to UFT 11.5).
When working with clients on which HP products work with what version I usually put in a ticket with HP support. They must have a gigantic matrix of some sort that lets them know whats going on. Then I show the official information to the client. Also Knowledge Inbox keeps up to date with the patches so I go over there to see what to do also.
I get curious to learn Selenium, but I can barely keep track of working with QTP/QC.
If they're still running QTP 10 they are probably not on a support contract and it would be very costly to upgrade.
Cross browser testing is just not something QTP does well. It is always out of date when it comes to browser support. Whenever they announce a patch with support for a new version, the browser has already upgraded to the next one(or two or three).
I'd be very wary of upgrading to 11.5. When i did, I experienced constant crashes to the point that I couldn't even record a quick script and play it back. When I decided enough was enough and uninstalled it, I was unable to get 11.0 to work on that machine again. I spent hours on cleaning out the registry/temp files/cache (while talking to HP support) and still never got anywhere. I had to wipe the machine and start over. I recommend waiting until they patch it up a bit... maybe even wait for 12.0. I think it is supposed to be released this year.
Thank you all for your responses. Every bit of info helps!
Yes, I got a matrix from HP Support and QTP 10 only supported Firefox 3.6 and nothing beyond that. QTP 11 took over from that point.
