Execute QTP test from QC on localhost error
I am having the following problem. When I use QC test lab to run a QTP test remotely I get a error saying the following:
This only occurs if I am attempting to run the tests on my local machine. If I assign a different remote host the test runs fine. It happens on all test machines so not an individual machine problem.
QC server has been restarted.
Auto Scheduler is starting.
Remote Agent is starting.
The scheduler says it is opening QTP and connecting.
The remote agent icon appears then the warning above.
Win 7 machines
Allow other HP products to execute is ON
QC QTP add-in is installed
QTP Patches installed:
QC is running on the: HP ALM Explorer Add-in
So no browser conflicts
So far I have attempted a few things but I would like to get some feedback to see if I am on the right track. I am stumped so let me know if anyone has had any problems like this.
When do you get this error? You usually get this warning when trying to close the Test Set execution window & when there are tests that are still running.
Look for the Process 'wexectrl.exe', kill all of them & try re-running the tests.
I get this error whenever I try to run on a local machine. It does not matter what test is chosen. It happens even if the ALM server has been rebooted and the QTP client machine has been rebooted. It happens on all machines in the test lab. I will do as you suggest and look for that process. The other perplexing thing is I can use the same test but run it on another host and it runs fine. This only happens when trying to run on the local machine.

Try disabling firewall or any antivirus or any other such product and try

Enable the Logs for the Remote Agent. There may be some pointers.
You could also try the following things.
Refer the ALM Integration section in the help file. There are special instructions for this integration to work on Window 7(RemoteAgent, DCOM, DEP).
I suggest that you to uninstall the QC Explorer Add-in, QC Connectivity Add-in & the QuickTest Add-in for QC.
Restart the Machine.
Install QC Client(IE), QC Connectivity Add-in & then the QuickTest Add-in for QC.
Open QTP as Admin & Connect to QC, just the first time.
Now try to run the Test Locally, from QC.
I have a remote agent log from that we did when this first started happening. I will attach it here.
I can only see that there are some issues in getting the status & starting the tests. And there are references to Hotfix QTP_00733, which in itself is a restricted Private hotfix for an Iteration Issue.
Did you have any issues with Datatable Iterations previously? If not, can you to uninstall this particular patch & try again.
