remote desktop to QTP installed to run against web
I am new to setting QTP up and dealing with a tough environment. Any guidance or pertinent reference would be appreciated -
Our AUT is a web app only accessible on a different subnet from my workstation. I remote desktop to a jump server to get to that subnet and then remote to a virtual server on the subnet that has both a QTP license server and client installation.
I thought this would allow me to use QTP against a web app in that environment similar to me running - since QTP technically isnít going through the remote desktop- only I am to get to QTP.
But instead I am finding that recording /trying to add objects to repository I am not getting past the Windows Internet Explorer object level (that is better than what I would get using QTP from my client and going through remote desktop, but still not feasible for testing). I have the web add-in installed and loaded.
I see some discussions about having a remote session maximized and some DCOM settings needed...I wasnít sure that applied to the set up I have, but I did them anyway...seems like it doesnít make a difference.
Any thoughts what to try next?
Re: remote desktop to QTP installed to run against web
Resolved- I had forgotten to install the patches. For some reason I cannot get patch 699 to install and that is prequisite to 86, but between the other ones, I now have the recognition of web objects I need. Next problems, here I come!
