QTP 11 - User controls and custom controls .Net
I hope you guys can help me out.
I am trying to build some automated tests for a .Net 4.0 application. Problem I am facing is that QTP 11, with .Net & WPF addin is not recognizing certain objects. When I asked the developers it seemed to be objects of type user controls and one custom control.
The custom control, a Drawing visual by the way, and the user controls are not recognized at all. The object spy is treating it as if they are not present in the form.
Is there a way to deal with this?
I know that there is something called Extensibility, is that something worht exploring? Are there patches available that will improve the ability of QTP to handle custom .Net control/user controls?
I know management will not agree on alot of time needed to create something for flaws in QTP 11...Because that is what it looks like, user controls are quite common in .Net applications from what I understand.
Thanks in advance for your replies.
Re: QTP 11 - User controls and custom controls .Net
.Net Extensibility is definitely worth exploring. It might be the only solution for your custom controls.
With .Net Extensibility, you can expose all public methods and properties from the custom controls to QTP. If you can't get your developer to give you the methods and properties, IL DASM is a good tool from MS that disassembles your app to see them.
